Tips for Moving your House Plants

Moving your house plants will require some care and preparation to ensure their safety and well-being during the move. Here are some steps you can follow to move your house plants successfully:

Research plant regulations:
If you are moving to a different state, it’s important to research any regulations regarding the transportation of plants. Some states in Australia have restrictions or quarantine requirements to prevent the spread of pests or diseases.

Plan the timing:
Try to schedule your move during a season when the plants are in a dormant or less active state. This can help minimise the shock of the move and make it easier for the plants to adapt to their new environment.

Prune and clean:
Before the move, trim any overgrown branches or foliage to reduce the size of the plants and make them easier to handle. Also, clean the plants by gently wiping the leaves with a damp cloth to remove any dust or debris.

Transplant if necessary:
If your plants are in large or heavy pots, consider transplanting them into lighter, plastic containers a few weeks before the move. This will make them easier to transport. Ensure that the new pots have proper drainage and are filled with fresh, well-draining soil.

Prepare for transportation:

Unpack and acclimate:
Upon arrival at your new home, promptly unpack the plants and remove the wrapping carefully. Place them in their new designated spots, taking into consideration their light and humidity requirements. Allow the plants some time to adjust and acclimate to their new environment.
